Verna H. Sokola, 99, of Larksville, died on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Residential Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emily Kondrak Hudak and was a graduate of Larksville High School. As an elementary student, she won a contest, where she won the privilege of writing a letter to President Roosevelt, where he, in return, wrote her a personal letter.
She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church and the former St. Stephen's Church, where she sang in the choir. Verna enjoyed cooking for relatives, neighbors and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and prior to retiring, she worked for RCA in Mountain Top.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William P. Sokola.
She is survived by nephew, Dr. Andrew Korshalla of Jupiter, FL; nieces, Rosemary Rokos and Karen Kondracki; great nieces and nephews, including great nephew, Charles Kondracki
Private Family Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in St. John the Baptist Church, Nesbitt St, Larksville, with Reverend Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment followed in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
