Obituary

Mary E. Evan, 93, of Plymouth, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Allied Services Center City nursing home (formerly St. Luke’s Villa) in Wilkes-Barre.

She was born January 12, 1929, in Plymouth, PA, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna (Elko) Evan. Her parents owned and operated Evan Grocery in Plymouth. Mary graduated from Plymouth High School in 1947 and attended Wyoming Seminary Business College. She worked as a secretary at the Anthracite Institute, Hanover Bank, Pagnotti’s Coal Company, and the Times Leader.

Mary was an avid sports fan due to all of her brothers’ sports interests. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Michael J. Evan, Jr., John Evan, Joseph Evan, and Robert Evan, and by her sister, Anna M. (Evan) Gorski. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A mass will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 10:30 am at All Saints Parish, 66 Willow Street, Plymouth, followed by burial at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Lehman Township. No flowers, please.
