Josephine A. Oravitz, 101, of Courtdale, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Highland Nursing Home, Exeter, where she was a guest for 3 months.
Born in Edwardsville, February 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Stephanie Betoft Pavill. Josephine was a member of Holy Family Church, Luzerne and several years ago, she worked for a short time in the school cafeteria at Wyoming Seminary.
Josephine was the true meaning of homemaker, taking care of her family and home and planted a vegetable garden every summer up until 2 years ago. She enjoyed cleaning, cooking, canning, gardening and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Joseph Oravitz in 1998 and siblings, Elizabeth Horvath, Vince Pavill, Mary Boniti, Frances Pavill, Helen Rowett, Alfred Pavill, Joseph Pavill, William Pavill.
She is survived by her sons, David Oravitz and his wife, Carolyn of Harveys Lake; Michael Oravitz and his wife, Mary of Exeter; grandchildren, Kaithlyn and her husband, Walter Kuharachik III of Franklin Township; Joseph George of Lancaster; great granddaughter, Summer Kuharachik and numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid, a private funeral service will be held from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church, Luzerne. Interment will follow in St. Anthonys Cemetery, Courtdale.
