Jerome “Pop” Brinzo 82 of Atlantic Ave Edwardsville passed away Sunday July 30, 2023 following a long illness.
Born in Plymouth on September 15, 1940 he was the son of the late Peter Brinzo and Anna Romanski.
He resided in Edwardsville most of his life and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Parish, Larksville and member of the former Saint Anthony’s of Padua Church. He enjoyed visiting his sister and her family in North Carolina and last year was able to take a trip to Mayberry, NC to the real world version of Andy Griffith’s hometown “
He served in the United States Navy and retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot. He spent his free time after retiring as a frequent Gerrity's supermarket shopper, birthday poem writer for all his kids and grandkids, avid junkyard hunter for parts to work on cars with his sons, and tomato gardener. As well as searching the newspapers daily for house “deals,” car “deals,” and coupons for his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Brinzo.
Surviving are his children Valerie Szafranovicz, Luzerne PA, Jeffrey Brinzo, Sweet Valley PA (Kate Simko), Stephen Brinzo Edwardsville, PA, Heather Welgoss Swoyersville Pa (Stephen Welgoss); sister Evelyn Rogers Greenville NC, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00 am from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville at 10:30 am.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 and again on Thursday morning, from 9:30 am until time of service at the funeral home
