James T. Smith, 56, of Shavertown, died in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on his 56th Birthday, Sunday, March 28, 2021.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Clement J. and Helen Kratz Smith and was a graduate of Meyers High School. Jim was employed for 26 years as a tradesman for Sheet Metal Workers Local 44 of Wilkes-Barre, a job he loved and was proud of. He enjoyed watching Nascar and was an avid Giants Football Fan.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Zimmerman.
He is survived by by his siblings, Helen (Robert) Stitzer, Forty Fort; Frances Rosencrans and her companion James Oko, Sr. Mountain Top; Clement J. Smith, Jr, Swoyersville; Daniel E. Smith, Ashley; Mary Temarantz, Ormond Beach, FL; Diane (Jeff) Yaglowski, Elizabeth City, NC; Robert (Molly) Smith, Mountain Top; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 10:00 am from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday morning, from 9:00 until time of service at the funeral home.
