ILA GLYCENFER Obituary

Ila Elgene Benscoter Glycenfer, 93, of Harding, entered into eternal rest at home Friday, April 14, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Mary Guilda Benscoter, her brother Clarence Jr., niece Laurie Benscoter, devoted son William D. Glycenfer and loving husband Joseph of 69 years.

Born in Shickshinny, Ila was a graduate of Harrison Memorial High School and later attended Nesbitt Nursing School. She chose to leave her nursing studies to assist her father with his business, later meeting and marrying her husband Joseph.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church, West Pittston for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star of the Irem Temple and served as Worthy Matron twice in West Pittston and twice in Wyoming. Everyone knew her as “Elgene.”

She is survived by her sister-in-law Norma Benscoter and family. Her sons, John (Francie) and Robert, daughter Jeanne (Bradley), grandchildren, Ian (Casey), Jessica, Robert Jr., Anthony, Kimberly and great grandson Kai.

She will be missed by all.

Her wishes were to have no public services.
