Mrs Geraldine Agnes Wardzel, (nee Cragle) 95, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 17, 2023 at the Broad Creek Care Center.
Geraldine was born September 19, 1928 in West Nanticoke, PA to the late Delbert H and Agnes (Cunyar) Cragle. She was a graduate of Harter High School, Class of 1946 going on to earn her degree as a Registered Nurse from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years, having retired from the New Jersey Home for Disabled Veterans, Edison, New Jersey after 11 years of service. Geri was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and “team pierogie” at St John the Baptist Church Larksville PA. Geri had spent the past four years on Hilton Head Island to be closer to her family, while enjoying the beauty and warm weather of the low country.
Geraldine was the loving wife of John J Wardzel, who preceded her in death in 2014, after 64 years of marriage and her brother Delbert J. Cragle.
She is survived by her loving son John R. Wardzel and wife Filomena of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, her daughter Jeanne Tryfonos and husband Andrew of Bolivia, North Caroline and grandchildren Christopher Tryfonos of Melrose, Massachusetts and Stefanie Tryfonos of Jackson, New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.
The Wardzel and Tryfonos families would like to thank Annie McAliney and the caregivers at Broad Creek Care Center for their dedication and compassion given to her during her final days.
Family will receive family and friends at St John the Baptist Parish, 126 Nesbitt St., Larksville, from 10:0 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 26, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, 12 Prospect St., Plymouth Twp.
Arrangements under the direction of the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, Larksville.
