DOROTHY THOMPSON Obituary

Dorothy Anne Walp Thompson, 78, of Hanover Township, died Thursday, April 9, 2020, in Timber Ridge Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre.

 

Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Anna Cadwallader Walp and was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. Dorothy was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church, Wapwallopen and was employed as a nurse's aid, prior to retirement.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert Thompson Sr. in 1997; sisters, Sarah Walp Ell Cartwright, Shavertown; Betty Jane Hennessee, Bethlehem; Brothers, Ralph Walp, Jr., Shavertown; Robert Walp, Phoenix, AZ; Donald Walp, Andover, KS; great-grandson, Jeremiah Higbie, Courtdale.

 

She is survived by her children, Robert Thompson, Jr and wife Tina of Shickshinny; Sherryl Samuel and husband Jared of Dallas; Nathan Thompson and wife Shelee of Hanover Twp.; 10 grandchildren: Terri, Rian, Stephanie, Megan, Melanie, Rachel, David, Kaeli, Elijah and Isaiah; 17 great-grandchildren: Kara, Weston, Draven, Avagail, Erisa, Jacob, Samantha, Mika, Eli, Mikalah, Carl, Sierrya, Brooke, Adyson, Tyler, Kaiya and Kinsley; brother, Carl Walp and wife Carolyn of Florida, nieces, and nephews.

 

A private graveside funeral service will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
