David Russell 60, of Lebanon, PA formerly of Kingston, PA died unexpectedly Tuesday November 30, 2021 at his residence The American House after a lifelong battle with mental illness.
He was born October 3, 1961, in Nanticoke, PA. to the late Sylvia Smith Russell. In David’s earlier years he attended Wyoming Valley West and later graduated from West Side Tech. Upon graduation, he joined the military and proudly served in the US Air force. He returned home and was employed by the Times Leader and the Municipality of Kingston. He loved fishing and had a passion for tinkering with old electronics and radios. But mostly he loved listening to the Beatles, playing his guitar and his harmonica.
In addition to his Mom Sylvia who was David’s advocate, confidant, and his voice when he needed one, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Sarah Prothero Smith and Louis Smith.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah Russell and her wife Susan Robak of Kingston and cousins.
Through all his trials and troubles, he managed to remain a kind soul with a generous heart giving to those in need. His selflessness was his light.
“Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey”…George Harrison
We would like to thank the past and current staff at the American House and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lebanon for their continuous care for David throughout the years.
Those who wish to attend are invited for a graveside funeral service on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 11:00 am in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
