Colleen M. Koons, 80, of Luzerne, passed away suddenly at home, Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Rita Brennan Washburn and was a graduate of Larksville High School. Colleen enjoyed staying busy working. She was a Residential Program Supervisor for Keystone Human Services and waitressed at many local restaurants. She formerly worked at Impact Systems, Inc., VicMars, Piledgis, Elbys and she was one of the first waitresses hired opening Red Lobster in Wilkes-Barre Township.
Colleen's greatest love was her family and she enjoyed spending time with them, going to the beach and was very proud of her Irish Heritage.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brother, John Washburn and nephew, Joseph Shumbris.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, daughter, Ann Marie Veronick; beloved grandson, Michael Veronick; brother, Bill Washburn and his wife, Sue; niece, Terry (Dennis) Shumbris; great niece and nephew, Jennifer and Ryan Shumbris; great great niece, Gabriella Shumbris and son in law, Dennis Veronick. She is also survived by many good friends, including Margie Powers and her pitbull, Molly, extended family.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 9:45 am from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:15 am in St. Ignatius Church, Kingston. Interment will follow in parish cemetery, Pringle.
Friends are invited to join the family from 8:45 am until time of service at the funeral home.
