ANN L. WILK

It is with a heavy and painful heart, we share the sad news of the passing of Ann L. Wilk, PhD, of Edwardsville.

Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna P. Kondrak Wilk and was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. Ann furthered her education earning her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from College Misericordia and earning her PhD from George Washington University in Washington DC. She spent most of her life living in Bethesda, MD and worked as a Researcher for NIH (National Institutes of Health) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration). 

Her research interests were in the area of birth defects, especially problems concerning clef pallets. She authored 18 original scientific papers and has presented several reports at scientific meetings. Ann enjoyed spending time with family, watching women's tennis and was interested in photography. Ann loved to travel and went to Paris, Africa, Turkey, just to name a few, but her favorite local area was Ocean City, MD. 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, are her siblings, Marianne Popivchak, Margaret Dainowski and Irene Parsons.

Left to cherish her memory and will miss her deeply, are her sister, Theresa Menik and her husband, Joseph of Edwardsville, brother, John M. Wilk of Clarks Summit; one niece and several nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 10:30 in St. John the Baptist Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville with Reverend Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Courtdale.
