Josephine S. Rock, 84, of Larksville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Hampton House, Hanover Township.
Born in Larksville, Josephine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fannie Cooper Strish. She graduated from Larksville High School in 1951. She worked at Acme Bakery, Wilkes-Barre, for 29 years, until it closed. She then worked at Techneglas, Pittston, until she retired. Josephine was a member St. Anthony’s Church, Larksville, until it closed, and then of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville.
Josephine was a whiz at crossword puzzles. She loved wrapping up in long, cozy robes, and she always smelled of her favorite Nina Ricci perfume. She spent most of her time at home, snuggled in a comfy chair with her rescue cat, Henry, on her lap.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Rock, in addition to her parents.
Josephine is survived by her sons, David Rock and his wife, Karen, Harding, and Thomas Rock and his wife, Nancy, Plains; grandchildren, Lindsay Rohland, Pittston, and Nicholas Rock, Jenkins Township; sisters, Jean Prushinski, Larksville, and Joan Snopeck, West Wyoming; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Street, Plains. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Courtdale.
Family and friends may visit the funeral home Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
