JAMES O'KANE Obituary

On April 8th 2018, James Edward O’Kane passed away, surrounded by his loving family. He fought many courageous battles with heart, lung diseases and cancer.

Jim served in the Marines, from 1958 to 1962, and was honorably discharged as a PFC. Jim was extremely proud to have served, and to have the title of a Veteran.

He was an expert OTR Commercial driver for over forty years. Jim's handle "Cannonball," had many trucker friends, and they embraced his friendship. When they all got together, they loved sharing their trucker experiences, and the laughter was endless. Jim and Judy frequent a breakfast club with Friends Billy, Clay and others. They would have the whole restaurant laughing as the club members shared their tales of the road.

Jim had a spirit of kindness, wisdom, and easy going. Jim would help anyone who would ask him. He will be deeply missed by anyone who had the privilege of meeting him. Whether it was in a local restaurant, or Lowes, he will be remembered for his mild manner stature and sense of humor.

Jim will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Judy O'Kane residing in Larksville. They did everything together, including raising five children. Four sons: Steven O'Kane, and wife Nancy O'Kane in Swoyersville. Steven is also a truck driver for almost 35 years, which he accredits all his trucking knowledge and skills from his Dad's teaching. Asher O’Kane resides with husband, John McGrady in Plains. They spent numerous special times together with Jim and Judy. Son, Jim O'kane with companion Stephanie Lennon residing in Mt Top. Son, David O'kane is residing in Bloomsburg; and one daughter Evelyn O'kane.

Jim and Judy O’Kane also raised their grandson David J. O’Kane who is married to Angela O’Kane whom resides in Edwardsville. David and Angie blessed Jim and Judy with a great grandson, the apple of their eyes, Tyler O’Kane. Jim and Judy loved spending their time with David, Angie and Tyler. They spent numerous vacations together, as well as, everyday family lives. As Tyler grew, Jim and Judy enjoyed watching Tyler play little league and High school baseball.

Surviving is Jim’s Brother Sam O'kane. Niece, Audrey and husband Danny Hodle. Jim leaves on earth, other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim was preceded by his Grandfather and Grandmother Mary and James O'Kane; And Father and Mother, Evelyn Shonk and Charles O'Kane; and two brother’s Charles and Hubert O'Kane.
