GEORGE RAVERT Obituary

George A. Ravert, Sr., 66, of Larksville, died Monday morning, January 6, 2020 at home.

 

He was born on October 3, 1953 in Kingston, to Margaret Kwitowski and George Rufus Ravert; was employed as a carpenter and served his country in the National Guard at the 109th Service Battery, Kingston. He was a graduate of West Side Tech; was a member of the Larksville American Legion; was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially loved playing with his grandchildren. He was willing to help anyone and enjoyed volunteering. He would be found on many occasions, helping during the holidays, for the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, CEO food pantry for Thanksgiving and even played Santa for States Street School.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Patrick Ravert and adopted parents, Jean and Jimmy.

 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda M. Pekar Ravert; son, George A. Ravert, Jr. and wife, Jessica; daughter, Melanie Ashford and husband Robert; grandchildren: Hunter and Reid Ravert; Ariel and Robert Ashford. 

 

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 6 PM, with military honors, from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St. Larksville, with Reverend Gerald Gurka officiating.

 

Friends are invited to join the family on Friday, January 10, 2019 from 4 to 6 pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
