Donald E. Thrash, 65, of Hunlock Creek, died suddenly Saturday morning, October 8, 2016 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Berwick, he was the son of the late Frederick L. Thrash and Marjorie W. Hunter. Donald was employed in the construction industry.  He loved long rides in the country ending with a trip to the fish hatchery and a picnic in the park. He enjoyed the changes of the seasons: seeing the first robin of spring, sitting under the cool grapevines in the summer, the beautiful leaves in the fall and tree limbs encased in a blanket of snow with every fresh winter snowfall. He pointed out every antique car we would pass and had a love for trucks. He was always one of the first people to stop and help out a stranger and he'd give you the shirt off of his back without thinking twice. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He always knew the perfect smart-alec remark to make everyone laugh. His children, wife and grandchildren meant the world to him and you could always tell by the sparkle in his eyes when he'd look at them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Jr., and his siblings Doris Carey, Dorothy Morganti and David Thrash.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon (Thomas) Thrash; daughters, Christine Kon and her husband, Martin, Larksville; Aimee Austin and her husband, Donald, Trucksville; Jeanette Maye and her husband, Joshua, Towanda; son, Donald C. Thrash, Hunlock Creek; 6 grandchildren, Kyla, Brendon, Brooke, Joshua Jr., Laney and Emelynn; siblings, Donna Zimmerman, of Kingston; Dawn Thomas of Larksville; and Daniel Thrash, Luzerne. 

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville, with Elder John Danko of Wilkes-Barre officiating.

Friends and Family are invited to visit Tuesday from 4:00 pm to time of service at the funeral home.
