BARBARA J. (BOLEN) NEMSHICK

November 2, 1940 ~ January 17, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old


Barbara J. Nemshick, formerly a resident of Larksville and West Pittston, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor.

 

Born in Hanover Twp., she was the daughter of the late Bruce Bolen and Mary Powell Bolen Chabala.  Barbara was a graduate of Larksville High School, Class of 1958. She served in the United States Army and was stationed at West Point Hospital, NY and the 300th Field Hospital Unit in Wilkes-Barre.  Barbara was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. She resided in New Jersey for many years before returning to Larksville 25 years ago. She was a former member of St. Marys Church, Plymouth.  Barbara a wonderful mother and grandmother, centering her life around her family and her passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a selfless and generous person, always placing the needs of others before her own.

 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by husband, Peter Nemshick.

 

Barbara is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Brenda Samony and her husband, Peter, Old Forge; Peter Nemshick Jr. and his wife, Megan, West Pittston; granddaughter, Ella Nemshick; grandsons, Michael Samony and Ryan Nemshick; her cherished sister, Patricia Petroski, Linden, NJ; brothers, John Chabala, Union Beach, NJ and Bruce Bolen, FL.

 

Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 9:30 am from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow Street, Plymouth.

 

Interment with Military Honors will follow in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

 

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home and from 9:00 am until time of service on Saturday.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion shown to Barbara during her visit.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home and from 9:00 am until time of service on Saturday.
